This triple-set of sunshine-hued, graduated citrine beads drew me in like a bee to nectar. There was something so soothing about them, the softness of the color and the shape. I had to have them. But then, nothing I put with them matched up to the feelings I had about the citrines. So they sat in my safe.
Much later – years later – I was playing with some Mexican jelly opals and I realized they would be perfect teamed up with my strands of citrine! Little did I know that finding jelly opals as beads is quite nearly impossible. After much hunting, I found ONE strand that was the right hue and size. And it was a match made in heaven. The beautiful irregular surface and light play deep within that golden color of the baroque beads was ideal with the smooth, rich orangy-yellow citrines.
Each row is specifically designed and every bead is measured so that this necklace would match up to a certain place of the strand above it. It was only right that a monumental clasp with a pair of huge bi-color freeform opals cap off this masterpiece. And really, once the piece was completed, who couldn’t see that on an elegant and bejeweled Maharajah?
